Frequently Asked Questions

Does StrideStats need an account? No. There is no sign-in, login, or registration of any kind. StrideStats reads data that already exists in Apple Health on your device.

Why isn’t StrideStats showing my workouts? StrideStats reads walking, running, and hiking workouts from Apple Health. Make sure you have granted Health access:

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app
  2. Go to Privacy & Security → Health → StrideStats
  3. Enable Distance Walking & Running, Heart Rate, Active Energy, Step Count, and Workouts

If you use an Apple Watch, your workouts are automatically synced to Health. If you use a third-party app (Strava, Nike Run Club, Garmin, etc.), check whether that app writes workouts to Apple Health.

What activities does StrideStats track? StrideStats tracks walking, running, and hiking workouts recorded in Apple Health. Indoor treadmill sessions are detected automatically using the “Indoor Workout” flag that Apple Watch sets when you choose Indoor Walk or Indoor Run.

What is the difference between the Running and Walking tabs? The Running tab shows only running sessions with pace trends, power, and stride length. The Walking tab shows walking and hiking sessions together. You can switch between walking and hiking using the segment picker at the top of the Walking tab.

What is the Steps tab? The Steps tab shows your daily step counts as recorded by your iPhone or Apple Watch pedometer. These are independent of logged workout sessions — they reflect every step you take throughout the day, not just during exercise.

Why do my step counts look different from Apple Health? StrideStats reads daily step totals from Apple Health using the same pedometer data source. Minor differences can occur if steps are recorded by multiple devices simultaneously. The total shown in StrideStats reflects the combined count as Apple Health reports it.

Why don’t I see cadence or power for my runs? Running cadence and power data require a compatible accessory (Apple Watch Ultra, Stryd pod, or similar sensor) that writes data to Apple Health. Sessions recorded without these sensors will show no cadence or power values.

How far back does StrideStats go? StrideStats loads all walking, running, and hiking workouts stored in Apple Health — there is no date limit. If you have years of workout history, they will all appear in the All time filter and in the year-over-year comparison.

Does StrideStats work without internet? Yes. All calculations run entirely on your device. StrideStats has no internet connection and does not transmit any data.

Where is my data stored? StrideStats does not store any data of its own. It reads directly from Apple Health each time you open the app. Your Health data is stored and managed by Apple on your device.

Does StrideStats write anything to Apple Health? No. StrideStats is read-only. It never modifies or writes to Apple Health.

I purchased StrideStats — how do I use it on another device? StrideStats is a standard paid app purchase tied to your Apple ID. It is available on all devices signed in with the same Apple ID, including through Family Sharing (subject to your Apple ID sharing settings). Simply download it from the App Store — there are no extra steps.
