Does MySleepMusic require an Apple Music subscription? No. MySleepMusic plays any track from your personal music library — purchased songs, iTunes imports, or Apple Music downloads saved for offline listening. You do not need an active Apple Music subscription. If your library is empty, add music through the Music app first.
What does the sleep timer do? The sleep timer counts down from the duration you choose (15 min to 2 hours). When the countdown ends, MySleepMusic gradually fades the volume to zero and stops playback — so you don’t need to remember to stop it manually.
What is “Play Forever” mode? Play Forever mode plays music indefinitely without a countdown. You can optionally configure a gentle volume fade that starts after a delay (e.g., fade down 40% after 30 minutes) so the music settles to a quieter level while you sleep.
Can I customize the fade? Yes. Tap the Fade tab at the bottom of the screen to open Fade Settings. You can adjust:

Why does the volume slider control the system volume? MySleepMusic adjusts the system output volume (the same volume controlled by the physical buttons) so the change takes effect for background playback and after the screen locks. Your volume is saved automatically — just set it where you want it and the app remembers it next time.
Will the faded volume carry over to my next session? No. When you restart the app, the volume is always restored to your last manually set level — never the faded-down level from a previous sleep session.
The screen dims while music plays — how do I control that? This is the Night Display feature. It dims your screen automatically to a low brightness to avoid disrupting your sleep. The dimming stops when you leave the app or stop playback. If you don’t want this behavior, you can cover the screen or lock your phone normally — the music continues in the background.
How do I add songs to my sleep playlist? Go to the Songs tab and tap + in the top-right corner. Tap any song to add it instantly — the picker closes automatically. Tap + again to add another song.
Where is my playlist stored? Your sleep playlist is stored locally on your iPhone in the app’s private storage. It is not synced to iCloud or any server. If you delete the app, your playlist selection is lost (the music itself remains in your library).
Does MySleepMusic require a purchase? Yes. MySleepMusic is a paid app — purchase it once from the App Store for $2.99 and all features are yours permanently — sleep timer, volume fade, play-forever mode, night display, and music library access. There are no subscriptions and no recurring charges.
I bought the app but features are locked. Delete and reinstall the app from the App Store using the same Apple ID you purchased with — reinstalls are free. If the issue persists, contact us at support.
Can I use my purchase on multiple devices? Yes. Your App Store purchase is tied to your Apple ID. Reinstall from the App Store on any of your devices using the same Apple ID — no extra charge.
Can I use MySleepMusic while another app plays audio? MySleepMusic takes over audio playback when you press Play, which stops other audio sources (Spotify, Podcasts, etc.) as expected for a music player.
Does the timer work when my phone is locked? Yes. The sleep timer and fade continue running in the background while your phone is locked. iOS background audio keeps the timer active.
